Record Entry for BUAFL 2012-13

A record 71 teams are scheduled to take part in the 2012-13 British Universities National Championships after the British American Football Association released the provisional fixtures last week.

This comes straight off the back of a another record-breaking year for Europe’s largest student football competition. 4026 people took part in the 2011-12 season, a massive 20.9% increase on the 3330 who took part in the 2010-11 season.

BAFA Director for Student Football Andy Fuller spoke of his excitement at the continued growth. ‘We are again delighted that our sport is continuing to grow across Higher Education in Great Britain and we are grateful to all those students and staff who are putting in a considerable amount of time to foster the development of these programmes.’

Fuller continued ‘As we look beyond next season we have a dozen or so programmes in development so we anticipate further growth through 2014’.
