The teams met for first time at Varsity in 2008 in the Bucs' development year with the established Knights squeezing a 14-12 win. Since then the Knights have dominated the tie winning 52-8 in 09 and 32-6 in 2010. However, the Bucs have since found their feet and this season they recorded a dramatic 24-22 victory which gives them bragging rights going into today's game.
The match itself was a cracker with the Knights taking the lead before the Bucs' wing put them back to 24-14 in front. The Offense then faltered with 3 consecutive drives ended by fumbles and the Knights' Offense brought it back to 24-22. With seconds left and the Reading Offense driving downfield, the Bucs Defence picked off a deep ball to secure the win.
The Knights will want to win to re-establish themselves as the #1 team in the Thames Valley area, whereas the Bucs are looking to make it 5-0 against local rivals this season and head into next season with an eye firmly on yet another post season qualification.
