The Right Worshipful Mayor of Southampton, Councillor Stephen Barnes-Andrews, last week hosted a reception for 40 members of the Championship winning team, coaching and management staff and university officials at Southampton's historic Guildhall where both the Championship trophy and the John Slavin award were on display.

The Mayor, Southampton's 785th, praised the Stags as a credit to the City before posing for photographs and film crews covering the event.

BUAFL Chief Executive Andy Fuller said of the event 'Southampton have set the bar very high this year both in terms of performance on the pitch and off it. This event provided a fitting culmination to their year and I would like to thank the Mayor and all the officials of Southampton for their organisation and hosting of the event. I hope that these receptions will become a fixture in the calender of every Championship winning team.'
