Andy Fuller, BUAFL Chief Executive welcomed the Mustangs by commenting upon the statture of their university and the hotbed of football which they will be working within.

Not only can the League benefit from another competitive team but equally we can learn from the considerable expertise housed at Northumbria to continually improve the standard of our offer".

Fuller added, "With the Newcastle Raiders, Sunderland Spartans, Durham Saints and UT Cougars in such close proximity the North East really is a hotbed of university football and with BAFL Premier team the Gateshead Senators running a top quality programme the future looks bright for football in that region".
