A 14-12 defeat at the hands of Varsity rivals and BUAFL Play-off team the Reading Knights saw the BNU Buccaneers complete their Associate season in fine style and head in to their debut League season full of confidence.
The Buccaneers join the Northumbria Mustangs who completed their season in a match-up against the Durham Saints at the weekend.
BUAFL Chief Executive Andy Fuller said of their achievements 'I am delighted to welcome full member applications from both Northumbria and BNU. I have dealt a great deal with BNU in recent months and they have a strong commitment to developing their football programme which will mean the Buccaneers have a great platform to build from'.
Fuller added 'I am equally pleased that the Mustangs have been successful. The North East is proving a hotbed for football and Northumbria university is nationally recognised for sports development.
'Now we know the full line up of members for next season we can finalise the fixtures and release the details for all teams so they can start their planning in earnest. I hope to have the fixtures released by the end of next week (first full week of May) but we are still waiting for a number of teams to complete their term date forms. Hopefully the rest will come in this weekend.'
