PLAYOFF STRUCTURE 2007/2008
Selection for the BUAFL Playoffs.
- Teams in the Northern Conference & Southern Conference will be kept separate during the playoff period, resulting in the final being played by the No1 team in the North vs. No1 team in the South.
- The 4 Divisional Winners from each conference will have automatic progression into the Playoffs and will be ranked 1 to 4 in each conference.
- Four more teams will progress into the playoffs and these will be the four teams with the next best record in each conference.
- The Tie Breaker procedure will be used to determine teams and rankings when the same record is held by two or more teams.
- First Round rankings will maintain throughout the playoffs structure.
Tie Breaker Procedures:
a) Division rankings and playoff venues will be determined initially by the overall won-lost-tied percentage of the teams. The following procedures shall be used to break standings ties for post season playoffs:
b) To break a tie within a division between two Teams:
i. Attendance at the AGM, PSM or other General Meetings in the previous 12 months
ii. Head-to-head record
iii. Won-lost-tied percentage in games within the division
iv. Won-lost-tied percentage in games played against common opponents
v. Value of fines imposed by the League
vi. Strength of schedule (based on combined record of opponents)
vii. Points differential in head-to-head games actually played
viii. Average points differential in games within the division in games actually played
ix. Average points differential against common opponents in games actually played
x. Average points differential in all games actually played
xi. Average points conceded in all games actually played
xii. The toss of a coin
